About this position
The Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPF) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to provide comprehensive advice to the Vice President’s Front Office in resource planning, administration and project coordination. The selected candidate will manage key budgetary and administrative processes for VPF and its respective departments—ranging from budget formulation and reporting to overseeing Service Level Agreements and tracking Board and audit deliverables. They will also lead HR-related actions and provide project management coordination and oversight to ensure effective decision making and timely execution across VPF-. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to navigate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Comprised of the Finance Department (FIN), the Budget and Administration Department (BDA) and the Executive Secretariat of the Staff Retirement Plan (SRP), VPF ensures effective, efficient performance by staff in the budget, corporate procurement, administrative services, finance and pension areas of the Bank.
What you’ll do
• Prepare and oversee the formulation, approval, and monitoring of the budget for VPF and its departments, including regular expense tracking, processing of budget requests, purchase orders, payments in SAP and relevant month-end and year-end closing activities. This role also involves coordinating with other Vice Presidencies and BDA, tracking central funds requests and their budget execution, and preparing reports to support priority-setting and provide inputs for the Vice President’s resource allocation decisions.
• Lead quality assurance by reviewing financial reports and related documents, and preparing briefing materials for the Vice President’s review, providing insights and recommendations for adjustments as needed.
• Process hiring requests and other personnel decisions by interacting with the Human Resources Department and other Departments as needed.
• Develop, negotiate and monitor the execution of Service Level Agreements with IDB Lab and IDB Invest.
• Follow up and update VPF leadership on Board deliverables and Audit Recommendations, helping to resolve any bottlenecks and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Coordinate and monitor progress on Treasury capital projects, documents and initiatives, following up on issues and risks.
• Provide cross-functional coordination to VPF-wide projects and initiatives, including coordination, data collection, logistics, and follow-up to ensure timely and high-quality results.
• Maintain and improve internal processes and documentation, ensuring compliance with Bank policies and procedures, accuracy, and continuous improvement across workflows and systems.
• Collect and analyze data to prepare reports, presentations, charts, and dashboards that support VPF decision-making and institutional reporting.
• Represent VPF in committees and working groups, as instructed or as needed, ensuring VPF’s strategic perspectives are clearly communicated and reflected in discussions and decisions. This role includes periodically interacting with Advisors to the President and Vice Presidents to provide relevant support from VPF.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, Finance, Accounting or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Project management certification is a plus.
• Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience related to the key responsibilities of the position, including a minimum of 5 years of international experience. Experience with IDB systems and processes—such as SAP, Hyperion, and Concur—is highly preferred. A strong background in resource planning, budget management, contract processing, and invoicing is required. Proficiency in advanced Excel and Power BI is highly desirable.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Type of contract and duration
• International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
