About this position

You will work in the Migration Unit team, which is part of the Social Sector (SCL). This team is responsible for supporting migration-receiving countries, destination countries, transit migration, and host communities through loan operations; regional, subregional, and national dialogues; regional cooperation to generate public goods; capacity building and training; and applied research.

What you’ll do

  • Design, lead, and implement the communication strategy of the unit, in coordination with the relevant bank areas, to position the bank as the strategic partner in the region for migration policy and operations development.
  • Organize the communications area work plan aligned with the unit’s and bank’s priorities, as well as the available financial and human resources.
  • Coordinate with operational and knowledge teams to ensure successful execution of the communication plan.
  • Develop and write speeches, briefings, and other communications for bank executives, the unit, and its specialists.
  • Conduct research and analysis to ensure the relevance of messages and public interventions by unit members.
  • Contribute to building and strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors and multilateral organizations.
  • Write and edit articles, technical reports, briefing documents, blogs, web content, and other publications, translating complex concepts into clear language.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to research, draft, and develop communications promoting the IDB’s work internally and externally.
  • Develop video scripts, production plans, and other communication materials, coordinating with teams and providers to produce multimedia communication products.
  • Support the design of dissemination and impact strategies for blogs, articles, books, and graphic and audiovisual materials.

What you'll need

  • Education: Master’s degree in communications or equivalent advanced degree in other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in a relevant area, with proven previous work in content dissemination and communication and marketing strategies.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the Bank’s other official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is required.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48 member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

  • Contract Type: Full-time International Consultant
  • Duration: 12 months (up 36 months)
  • Work Location: On site, Washington, DC, USA.
