About this position
The Office of the Secretary is seeking a highly technical, hands-on, analytical, and solution-oriented Systems Integration and Operational Technology Consultant to support the operation, maintenance, modernization, and continued development of the software applications and integrated technology solutions used in the Bank’s formal meeting environments.
As a Systems Integration and Operational Technology Consultant you will take technical ownership of the conference-management application ecosystem within the Office of the Secretary. This includes maintaining and improving existing conference and room-management systems, developing new capabilities as operational requirements evolve, integrating in-person conference-management tools with virtual and hybrid meeting platforms, interpretation environments, recording systems, and other institutional applications, and enabling interoperability with third-party platforms through APIs, WebSockets, event-driven interfaces, and other approved integration methods. The consultant will help ensure that these solutions operate as a coordinated, reliable, secure, maintainable, and appropriately documented environment.The consultant will also support the implementation of approved AI-enabled solutions for meeting management, recording, transcription, metadata processing, document and knowledge retrieval, operational analytics, and workflow automation using NVIDIA GPU-enabled infrastructure and other authorized enterprise platforms. The consultant will work jointly with the Events Production Management (SEC/EPM) section and the Information Systems and Digital Innovation section (SEC/ISD), in coordination with AV Services, internal technology teams, manufacturers, and external vendors. The consultant may also be requested to support other tasks aligned with the business needs of the Office of the Secretary and managed by SEC/EPM or SEC/ISD
You will work in the Event Production and Management Section part of the Office of the Secretary. This team is responsible for organizing the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors. We are also in charge of managing the main meeting rooms and venues of the Bank. We coordinate the space reservation for face-to-face, virtual or hybrid meetings, multimedia services, publication of all meetings in the IDB Events Calendar, and we coordinate all the logistics for the event.
What you’ll do
- Support the evolution, maintenance, enhancement, and operational sustainment of the existing Python-based conference-system control and meeting-management environment used for Televic (Conference System)-based operations, under the technical direction of the Chief of EPM.
- Assume technical responsibility for conference and room-management applications, backend services, integrations, databases, automation components, and related software tools managed by SEC/EPM and SEC/ISD.
- Design, implement, test, and sustain integrations among in-person conference systems, virtual and hybrid participation platforms, interpretation environments, recording systems, IP-based AV systems, internal applications, and third-party platforms using APIs, WebSockets, SDKs, message-based interfaces, and other approved methods.
- Work with external vendors, manufacturers, and technology providers to define requirements, review and validate interfaces, identify limitations, and pursue technical improvements required for operational use cases.
- Develop and maintain backend services, scripts, daemons, middleware, automation tools, monitoring utilities, synchronization services, data connectors, and metadata-capture components required for system orchestration and operational workflows.
- Adapt, package, configure, deploy, monitor, and maintain software solutions across approved Linux, Windows, containerized, and other operational environments, ensuring reliability, security, compatibility, supportability, and maintainability.
- Improve conference-room management capabilities, including room configuration, meeting preparation, system-status monitoring, operational readiness, technical logging, and centralized management of supported spaces.
- Support digital recording and meeting-data solutions capable of capturing timestamps, speaker information, participant activity, language-channel information, synchronization markers, and other structured metadata required for transcription, search, retrieval, analysis, and downstream processing.
- Perform technical prototyping, proof-of-concept development, laboratory validation, integration testing, production-oriented testing, advanced troubleshooting, performance analysis, and root-cause analysis, and implement approved automation and AI-enabled solutions for meeting management, transcription, document review, metadata extraction, semantic search, operational analytics, and knowledge retrieval.
- Document software architecture, data flows, interface logic, dependencies, deployment procedures, security considerations, operational constraints, support requirements, and best practices; maintain appropriate software lifecycle practices; provide knowledge transfer; and support other related assignments under the responsibilities of SEC/EPM or SEC/ISD.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent advanced degree, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or another field relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: At least two years of progressively responsible experience in software development, systems integration, backend development, application integration, or a related technical role. The candidate must demonstrate strong programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, concurrency, process and memory management, inter-process communication, networking, debugging, and software design. Experience should extend beyond conventional web application development and include the ability to analyze, modify, compile, integrate, and troubleshoot software at the operating-system, protocol, service, or device-interface level. Advanced proficiency in Python is required, together with demonstrated capability to work with compiled and systems-oriented software when needed.
- Languages: Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
Technologies:
- Programming and Backend Development: Advanced Python proficiency is a minimum requirement. Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting backend services, workers, daemons, automation scripts, connectors, middleware, and operational utilities is required, along with the ability to work with compiled or lower-level software when needed.
- Linux and Platform Administration: Strong hands-on Linux administration and software deployment experience is required, including installing, configuring, compiling, packaging, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining software across different hardware and operating environments. Familiarity with NVIDIA DGX Spark or comparable GPU-enabled platforms is desirable.
- Systems Integration and APIs: Strong experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, SDKs, message-based interfaces, serial or IP communications, and other interoperability methods.
- Software Architecture: Strong understanding of modular design, middleware, service orchestration, event-driven systems, process interaction, concurrency, and maintainable backend development.
- Data and Databases: Experience with structured data and metadata, including timestamps, event markers, synchronization logic, logs, and machine-readable exchange. Experience with at least one SQL relational database, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, and one additional persistence technology, such as Redis, MongoDB, or a lightweight local database, is required.
- DevOps and Deployment: Experience with Git, dependency and package management, virtual environments, containers, service deployment, testing, CI/CD concepts, release management, monitoring, and rollback procedures.
- Networking: Good understanding of Linux networking, IP systems, ports, protocols, routing, authentication, certificates, and troubleshooting.
- Digital Recording and Media Workflows: Experience with Dante-based audio recording, audio-file management, media synchronization, structured recording metadata, or speech-to-text pipelines is highly desirable.
- Vendor Integration: Ability to work with manufacturers, software vendors, and technology partners to clarify requirements, validate interfaces, identify limitations, and coordinate technical improvements.
