About this position
The Communications Division, in the External Affairs and Communications Department, is responsible for the design and implementation of the IDB strategic communications’ plans, providing advice, expertise, and tools for dissemination and communication planning and execution. The Communications Division positions the IDB Group work, knowledge products, and development opportunities in the Latin American and Caribbean Region. In addition, it provides guidelines and advice on the standards of use of the corporate brand, internal communications, the External Feedback System (EFS), and manages all communication channels including digital platforms, corporate websites, editorial content, press and media relations, and events as well as the IDB Community Relations Program.
Enhancing our institutional communicational capacity is a business priority to tell stories of impact of our projects, better position the brand, protect our reputation, expand our reach, and highlight the scale of our work in the region.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and creative Website Consultant, to work with the team responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the IDB corporate website, enhancing user experience, accessibility, performance, and alignment with institutional goals.
You will work with technology and communication experts across the IDB as part of the Web Team within the Communications Division.
What you’ll do
The Web Communications Consultant will work as part of the Website team and will be responsible for:
Content Management
Editing, and publishing content on the corporate website using the Bank’s content management system (CMS) in four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
Ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the Bank’s editorial standards and strategic priorities.
Coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather and validate content.
Ensure content is properly optimized and follow best practices of on-page optimization, including title tags, meta description, H1 and H2 titles, and images that have proper Alt-Text descriptions.
Support content publishing workflows and editorial calendar.
Quality Assurance
Conducting regular audits of website content to identify outdated or inconsistent information.
Ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and multilingual content requirements (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French).
Monitor and resolve technical issues, including broken links, page errors, and loading speed.
User Experience & Optimization
Collaborating with UX/UI specialists and web designers to improve navigation, readability, and user engagement.
Providing input on visual design elements to ensure consistency with IDB branding and communication goals.
Monitoring website analytics to assess performance and recommend improvements.
Coordination
Supporting the rollout of new web pages, and digital campaigns.
Liaising with IT and design teams to troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements.
Governance & Standards
Upholding web governance policies and contributing to the development of content guidelines and best practices.
Training and supporting content contributors across departments.
Stay current with web technologies and trends relevant to multilateral organizations.
What you'll need
- Education: Master's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Digital Media, Communications, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in web content management and digital communications.
- Proficiency in the Drupal CMS platform, HTML/CSS basics, and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and SEO best practices.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish; Portuguese and French are a plus.

- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 17 months (up to 36 months).
